Fresh off the release of his second solo instalment on sister label Fluid Funk, ‘Essence Of House Part I’, Dutch maestro Orlando Voorn returns to Fluid Electronics with his new delivery, ‘Gatekeeper / Joy’. Soaked in that cosmic funk which has become a defining trait of his productions over the years, Voorn’s latest oozes pure multi-sensory escapology and gravity-defying hedonism, as he lifts us up towards uncharted spheres with that ever-relevant mix of propulsive groove and future-facing, sci-fi-friendly vision.

All in lopsided sines and Egyptian-style syncopations, lead groover ‘Gatekeeper’ opens a portal to a whole other dimension of oddly jacking house brought to a simmer. Laced with raging EBM tonalities and a straight Detroit-made electro chassis, the track hatches into one of these hybrid bombs Voorn holds the secret to, intensely jagged and beautifully wistful, but above all impressively vanguard in their design and execution. Always ready for what tomorrow has in the pipes.

The second cut, ‘Joy’, comes in two distinct versions that do nothing but what's written on the tin. Whereas the ‘electro’ mix offers a dashing treat of hi-tech freq surfing, fast-computing robotics and breaks-heavy traction, akin to the verve of the Motor City’s most eminent classics, the ‘4x4’ version trades its dashing horsepower for a pure gridlocked framework that’ll have it meet the most precise DJ needs with its laser-precise programming and mellifluous cosmic harmonics set to snatch souls by the dozen.
